Hi, welcome to the Travelling Sunglasses blog! I’m Giulia. Together with my Polish husband, Darek, and our son, Alexander, we are an international family based in Budapest, Hungary.
Travel is our biggest passion: it makes us feel alive, curious, engaged with the world, it stimulates our brains and our appetite, it opens our eyes to unexpected possibilities, and makes us better people.
Just like so many other families, we have full-time jobs, kindergarten, and limited budgets. We love our home in Budapest: we enjoy meeting friends, watching Netflix, reading, and playing video games. Our 9-5 stability allows us to spend almost all of our paid time off travelling around.
Before Alex was born, we used to go on city breaks in European cities, and on exotic 2-week trips (we loved Japan, Australia, and Namibia). When Alexander was a baby, we spent a longer time in my hometown of Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, with my family. Now that Alex is almost 4, we prefer 1-week road trips to new destinations, like Iceland, Puglia in Southern Italy, and Switzerland with Liechtenstein. Here you’ll find itineraries and information on all these different ways of travelling: it’s possible to travel with limited time, limited budgets, and also with young children!
We love cultural experiences, architectural landmarks, mountain landscapes, and street art; we follow our nose to exciting culinary discoveries with local ingredients; we rest and recharge with wellness activities and with easy hikes in nature (we are couch potatoes, after all!)
Over the years, we have changed, adapted and improved. Our travels used to be very full and intense (just see our crazy Japan honeymoon itinerary!), but now I’m learning to be mindful, relax, and enjoy the moment, wherever we choose to be (like on Gellert Hill in Budapest).
I combine efficient travel planning with curious spontaneity, to make our trips unique, memorable, and perfectly tailored to our tastes.

What will the future hold? Certainly, we wish to keep travelling! Our travel bucket list includes more Japan, more Australia, sheep in Scotland, Northern lights, French castles, Sardinian beaches, Porto wines, Mosques in Istanbul, dunes in Morocco, hikes in Peru, sailing in the Caribbean, skyscrapers in New York, and so much more. Come with us!
